Worldschooling is a unique and innovative approach to education that is becoming increasingly popular among families worldwide. It is a way of learning that takes children out of the classroom and immerses them in different cultures, environments, and experiences. I started looking into it when my kids were born because Mark, my husband, has a degree in elementary education. My kids started learning to read when they were 2 years old and both are exceptional learners. Here are some of the things I have found that has made Worldschooling an intriguing option for my family.
Experiential Learning: One of the most significant benefits of worldschooling is that it allows kids to learn through experience. We can see, hear, smell, and touch the things they are learning about. This type of learning experience is much more engaging and memorable than traditional classrooms.
Exposure to Different Cultures: By traveling to different countries, we can experience different cultures firsthand. They can experience different languages, customs, traditions, and ways of life. This exposure helps children develop a broader perspective on the world and encourages them to be open-minded and accepting of others.
Flexibility: Worldschooling is highly flexible, allowing us to tailor the learning experience to each of our kid’s interests and abilities. This flexibility allows Mercedes and Giovanni to pursue their passions and develop their strengths, leading to a more enjoyable and effective learning experience.
Real-World Skills: Worldschooling provides us with opportunities to develop our kids’ real-world skills that are not typically taught in the classroom. We have to learn how to navigate unfamiliar environments, communicate with people from different cultures, and adapt to changing situations.
Family Time: Worldschooling allows us to spend more time together, strengthening bonds and creating lasting memories. Traveling together provides opportunities for us and the kids to connect on a deeper level by sharing unique experiences.
Personal Growth: Worldschooling can lead to significant personal growth for our kids. They are exposed to new experiences and challenges that can help them develop resilience, independence, and self-confidence. These qualities are essential for success in life.
Global Citizenship: This is one of the things that most draws me toward Worldschooling. It can help children develop a sense of global citizenship. By learning about different cultures and ways of life, we understand our place in the world and the impact they can have on it. We develop empathy for others and a desire to make the world a better place.
As we move forward with our kids education, we would like to Worldschool our children as much as we can, since it provides them with unique opportunities for experiential learning, exposure to different cultures, flexibility, real-world skills, family time, personal growth, and global citizenship. I think learning in this way will help Mercedes and Giovanni develop into well-rounded individuals with a broader perspective on the world as well as a strong sense of self.
